The author derives incompressible Navier-Stokes equations and discusses the mathematical nature of their solutions. In this context, he introduces the notion of outer and inner singular perturbation solutions and then deals with the inviscid (outer) solutions, also deriving boundary layer (inner) solutions. The book also explores separation of the boundary layer, its consequences, and drag. It also covers parallel and creeping analytical solutions and discusses the nature and importance of turbulent flows in the context of internal and external flows, respectively. |
